Catered by Culinard

Day 33

Tonight I went to one of those upscale parties where everyone is dressed to the 9's and trying their best to be seen. You know the type, every car there is a BMW, Ferrari, Mercedes, Porsche, Dodge Viper, etc. I got the chance to meet lots of cool people and mingle with high society again. The drinks were free and the food was top notch. I know it's a Monday night but the extremely wealthy tend not to follow the general rules of society. They don't use credit cards and they don't have to wait for the weekend in order to get off from work and have a get-together. If they want to have a party on a Monday night then gosh darn it, they'll plan it and EVERYBODY will show up!

A Great Conversation

Day 32

I can't tell you how long it's been since I've had such a great conversation with a girl on the phone. I was at home about to do my daily workout when a friend of mine called. She was concerned about a certain situation in her life and came to me for some advice. After talking her through the situation we continued to talk for several hours about everything under the sun. The great thing is that no topic is taboo or off limits. I absolutely love how open our conversations are! :)

As American as Apple Pie

Day 30

After getting up at the crack of dawn, shopping, and then working for 11 hours I was quite worn out. Luckily, a friend invited me over to hang out for a while and have some fresh, homemade apple pie. How could I resist great company and great food! All in all a very fulfilling day. I love my life!

Thankful For Fall

Day 29

Today, being Thanksgiving Day, I thought about taking pictures of the family, the turkey, the children playing, all the usual stuff, but instead I wanted to bring peoples attention to the little things that we don't think about being thankful for. Yeah the leaves are pretty during the fall season but after being on the ground for a while they tend not to be so great looking. Such are the seasons of life. I am extremely thankful for every single thing that has happened in my life. To EVERYTHING there IS a season! We all go through wonderful times of happiness as well as low times during our lives. This is all part of being alive. When things are good, rejoice and enjoy it. When things aren't so good, usually there is a great learning opportunity hiding in the midst of circumstances. Be thankful for every season of life. The beautiful fall gives way to a cold and bitter winter, which does away with the old and makes way for springtime, when love is in the air and everything is in bloom!

Leaving the Pavement

Day 28

Today, after having a fantastic day at work and some great dialogue with a few friends discussing plans and various get-to-gathers over the next couple of weeks, I walked outside to see these beautiful golden-red leaves lying ever so gracefully on the blue-grey pavement. Yeah, I know this is a Black and White blog but the colors literally leaped off the ground and filled my eyes with wonderful sights of delight. If you really wanted to you could see the color version, in all of its splendor here... Enjoy! :)

Red Robin

Day 27

I saw this robin outside the window today and thought it would make a great picture. My only wish is that I'd had more than a 300mm lens so I wouldn't have had to crop it...

2 Red Chairs

Day 26

Occasionally I'll head on over to Innovation Depot to help my buddy Daniel with his company Educator Technologies. Today was such a day and though, at the time, it didn't seem like we got too much accomplished, as I look back I realize that we did, in fact, get quite a bit done.

The Viper

Day 25

Supposing someone you know came in to quite a bit of money, he might end up with one of these in his driveway... of course that would only be after giving 10% to his church and following Dave Ramsey's baby steps! =D

Duck on the Water

Day 23

I spent the last couple of days in the small town of Attalla, AL with a friend. She took me to this great little park/trail where we walked around and I was able to get some great pictures of ducks doing their thing on the water.

Day 22

A Pin Up

Day 21

Today I went to a friends birthday party at the Brunswick Bowling Alley and decided to take a few pics.

Hands of Love

Day 20

So I ran across this picture today that I had taken of an ex's hand several years ago. So though I didn't actually take the picture today I hadn't really done anything with it and thought it deserved to be shared. I converted it to B&W and used a yellow filter to keep her nails from looking black. In the color version her nails are pink and the wood on the table is a deep brown.

...and it was called 'Yellow'

Day 19

I came along
I wrote a song for you
And all the things you do
And it was called 'Yellow'

Busy Day at the Office

Day 18

After running around like crazy for the past couple of days I was far too tired (read lazy) to go back out to my car and get my camera for today's pic. Luckily, there was an iPhone just in reach so I grabbed it, took this pic, and presto: Art! Ok, maybe not the kind that will make millions but hey, I never said every picture I took would be awe inspiring either....

Enjoy!

With This Ring....

Day 17

So today I had the privilege of shooting engagement photos for the future John and Amy Thomas Esq. We started the day around 8 a.m. at Veterans Park in Alabaster and then proceeded to the place of their first meeting. None other than Moes Southwestern Grill! After over 1300 shots we decided to call it a day. Whew!

Decorating Early

Day 16

As much as I absolutely love Christmas, I hate that all of the malls, radio stations, etc. begin "celebrating" before Thanksgiving. If it's before thanksgiving PLEASE talk about Thanksgiving NOT Christmas.

The Sounds of Silence

Day 12

Since I've always enjoyed music I decided to give everyone a glimpse into my instrument of choice. Knobs! Yes there is a keyboard attached but I never was a great pianist. What I did excel at is remixing. Before I stopped DJing I could take just about any song and make a dance floor packing remix out of it! Ah the good 'ol days... From Britney Spears to Flo Rida. If you want to take a listen just click on the following links to hear a remix that I did of "Low" by Flo Rida.
Low Quality (2.5mb)
High Quality (5mb)

The Wall

Day 11

I was outside of a local Wolf Camera today and saw this great looking spackled wall that was just unique enough to warrant a picture.

Peavine Falls

Day 10

So I had quite the busy day planned for today: Wake up, Do laundry, exercise, go to Oak Mountain State Park, then Disney on Ice, out to eat, home, more chores, watch the healthcare debate, upload photo, sleep. Needless to say a few of the items on my to do list didn't get done...

This shot took some work to get. I first climbed the treacherous terrain to the top of Peavine Falls only to find that, while it was pretty, there was not much that was photo worthy to be seen from up there besides a long drop down and a few streams... I then hiked all the way down to the bottom of the falls. Upon arrival I saw this before me. Great shot! Total hiking time: 2.5 hours. Total time taking pictures (including tripod setup): 2.5 minutes. Now I'm sore and I just need a good massage. I think it was worth it.

See the color version here.

Dance While the Record Spins

Day 9

So after 10+ years of DJing I still have a LOT of my DJ gear and music. This is one of the infamous Technics SL1200 Turntablesthat has rocked nightclubs across the world since its introduction in 1972. With a pair of 1200s, a booming sound system, and some flashing lights; DJs everywhere have entertained millions far into the wee hours of the morning. They're built like a tank, sound like a symphony, and continue to make people dance even today!

The Road Most Traveled

Day 8

After a long day at work and with it feeling so late because of the daylight savings time change, I had to think of an easy picture to take. I grabbed my camera and wide angle lens, set it on the dash of the car while driving home, and took one 30 second exposure. This is that shot....

Found on the Path of Life

Day 5

So over the last few days I've been going through a very difficult time. Since I was off today I decided to go for a walk to help clear my head and focus. As I was walking along I just started to pray "Lord, you know what I'm dealing with and how upset I am, please take care of me..." Just about that time I happened to look down at the road and saw this little cross laying there. I bent down, picked it up and read "Seek God. Love People. Live in Hope." Wow, thank you Father for letting me know that you are with me even during the struggles of life! To all of you out there going through anything at all. Know this. He does love you. Really!

Degredation of a god.

Day 4

Tonight after work I grabbed some friends and went to Vulcan Park to see the god of the forge up close and personal. We went inside to take the stairs to the top and I saw this on the ceiling and thought it would make a great pic. It seems to work....
