Shoes for Haiti

On Sunday, Februery 21st, 2010 Westwood Baptist Church in Alabaster, Alabama held a shoe drive to collect shoes to send to Haiti. Attenders were urged to wear the pair of shoes that they would be giving away and to leave barefoot. Though very unconventional, it helps to remind everyone of those that go without shoes every day due to poverty and national disasters. Giving shoes is the chance to make a world of a difference in the life of a person in need through a seemingly small contribution and to open the door to sharing the gospel. I had the humbling opportunity on Sunday to take pictures of all of the couples (14 in all) that were dedicating their babies to the Lord. Since I was at the very back of the worship center and couldn't use a flash none of the parents really paid much attention to (or looked at) the camera...except for this guy. In the pre-service meeting that we had with all of the families we let them know that I would be taking portraits for everyone. This guy got it. A portrait, that must mean I need to look at the camera and pose my baby... Yep. Smile. Click. Done.

So other than photography, I do a great deal of video editing each week, both because I enjoy it, and because the pay is rather nice. Spielberg, I hope you're listening.... Anyway, I thought I'd share with you guys a glimpse into my world. Here is a stack of mini DV's that I've recorded to, some DVDs just waiting to be filled with lovely moving pictures, and DVD sleeves to put them in when they're ready to make their way to their new home.
